Gravel Rider Instructions

Registration will take place at the following times:

Sunday 6th October at Hood Memorial Hall, Devauden, NP16 6NX

Parking will be in a field close to the hall. Signs will point to parking.

Please follow signs to the Hall where you will be able to collect your rider number and timing chip. We will supply you with zip ties to attach them to your bike. There will be cable snips available to trim them but you may find it worthwhile bringing scissors or snips of your own as a lot of people will be asking to use ours.

Once you have collected your rider number and timing chip, please wait until you are called to ride. We will set the 88km riders off first, at 9am. 58km riders will leave at 9.30am.

When you are on the trails, you will see Black Rat signs which are black with orange arrows in strategic places. Please note that the ride will not be fully signed as it would be on a road sportive. Where there is a possibility of taking a wrong turn we will endeavour to mark it with an arrow pointing in the direction you need to ride but this may not always be possible, so it is your responsibility to download the route maps to your GPS unit and follow the directions given.

The first feed station will be in Redbrook, near the bridge over the river.

Drinks will be dispensed from the containers provided.

After leaving the feed station you will immediately turn right and head towards Redbrook Village.

Your second feed station is next to the Forest of Dean Cycle Centre.

Toilets will be available at the cycle centre.

On return to Devauden, you should cross the timing mat below the arch in order to get your finishing time.

After finishing, please remove your timing chip and hand it in to the staff. This is important. Any chips not returned will be charged at £45.00 each by the timing company. Even if you don’t finish the ride for any reason, you must hand your chip back.

You will be offered food at the finish and there is enough space for you to eat it at the hall and cheer other finishers as they cross the line.

Please be tidy with your food utensils and plates when you have finished – we will have plenty of rubbish bags around and we want you to use them!
