Granfondo Rider Instructions
Registration will take place at the following times:
Sunday 19th May at Marlwood School from 7.15am
Please follow signs to the School Hall where you will be able to collect your rider number and timing chip. We will supply you with zip ties to attach them to your bike. There will be cable snips available to trim them but you may find it worthwhile bringing scissors or snips of your own as a lot of people will be asking to use ours.
Once you have collected your rider number and timing chip, please wait until you are called to ride. We will call numbers in order to go to the starting area, so numbers 1 – 50, 51 – 100 etc.
The ride will start at 8.00am
Our aim is to get 50 people started every 2.5 minutes. With delays that may occur, this means that all GF riders should be on the road by 8.30am.
When you are on the road, you need to look out for the Black Rat signs which are black with orange arrows.
The first feed station will be in Monmouth, next to the town arch over the river. Public toilets are 20m away.
Drinks will be dispensed from the containers provided.
After leaving the feed station you will immediately turn right and head towards Rockfield.
Your second feed station is in Talgarth, after you have descended from Gospel Pass.
Please note that you MUST cross the timing mat at this feed station. If you do not, you will be given a Mediofondo time.
Toilets will be available at this feed station.
Please note that the latest time that you are able to ride up Gospel Pass is 1.30pm. We estimate there is a minimum of 4 hours riding from that point so anyone arriving in Pandy after 1pm will be directed to the Mediofondo route.
On return to Marlwood School, you should cross the timing mat below the arch in order to get your finishing time.
After finishing, please remove your timing chip and hand it in to the staff. This is important. Any chips not returned will be charged at £45.00 each by the timing company. Even if you don’t finish the ride for any reason, you must hand your chip back.
You will be offered food at the finish and there is enough space for you to eat it at the school and cheer other finishers as they cross the line.
Please be tidy with your food utensils and plates when you have finished – we will have plenty of rubbish bags around and we want you to use them!
