In June 2024 we have a fabulous cycling trip to Tuscany planned.
Think rolling hills, delicious food, wine and amazing hilltop towns. Read on….
Our trip will start in the heart of Chianti, and over the next 6 days will take in some of Tuscany’s and Chianti’s best roads, villages and cuisine.
The trip will run for 8 days (Sunday to Sunday) with 6 days riding and a day allowed each end for travel.
We will stay in delightful hotels en route and as well as cycling we’ll make sure that your culinary desires are well catered for.
We have chosen dates in the middle of June in order to avoid the crowds that come later in the year and also the high temperatures of July and August.
(If there is enough interest, we can also run this trip in September).
Having said that, it will be warm in June (and September) and you will be able to take advantage of the outdoor pools in the hotels we have chosen when you finish riding.
Each day we will ride between 50km and 80km with most days including over 1000m of climbing. We should stress though, that this is not a mountainous trip and anyone who is comfortable riding up to 80km (50 miles) will be able to cope with the riding fairly easily.
The ride distances will give you plenty of time to explore the local town or village and sample some of the local delicacies once we have finished riding and we will be organising additional activities such as wine tasting on a couple of days.
We have carefully chosen some beautiful towns and villages in which to stay which will delight everyone who joins us on this excellent trip. We will stay in three locations, each for two nights, so you won’t be packing all of your belongings into a suitcase every morning before you ride. We will stay at San Giorgio, Siena and Montepulciano.
Our aim is to make this trip accessible for any rider. Although the routes on this trip will be hilly, it won’t be a case of relentlessly climbing every day, so if you aren’t confident about taking on one of the Alpine or Pyreneen trips, this could be the right trip for you (especially if you enjoy great food and wine).
