Sierra Nevada and Spanish Badlands Gravel Cycling trip

Saturday 26th April – Saturday 3rd May 2025

£1595.00 per person in a shared room.

£1895.00 per person in a single room.

Join us for a spectacular trip in beautiful Sierra Nevada and the Spanish “Badlands”.

If you have never heard of the Spanish Badlands, think of the American West, with huge rock formations and dusty mountainous trails.

We are running this trip at the end of April to avoid the high temperatures that this region experiences later in the summer.

Besides the amazing riding, you can dream of perfect tapas, devine Rioja wine and fabulous, friendly towns and villages where we will stay and ride.

The riding will suit anyone who has done some training and enjoys riding in the mountains. You don’t need to be fast, as we have support in place to ride with you and we’ll also have a vehicle on hand to top up drinks and snacks (when not riding off road sections).

We will start our tour in the World Heritage City of Granada. If you haven’t been before, it’s a treat waiting to be discovered. It sits at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountains, which top out at 3400m.

The town has plenty of things to do when you aren’t on the bike, including, if you wish, and depending on arrival time, a trip to the Alhambra Palace.

Our first day of riding will actually take us past the Alhambra Palace as we leave Granada and head towards the Aguas Bravas Valley.

As we head generally eastwards, our route will take us over the northern side of Sierra Nevada, the top most peaks of which will most likely still have snow cover at this time of year – although we will be lower down and are very unlikely to come across any snow ourselves.

Once we leave the Sierra, we enter Europe’s only desert, the Desertio de Tabaernas, where the Spaghetti Westerns, starring Clint Eastwood were filmed in the 1960’s. This is where the Badlands really start to resemble the American West, with deep ravines and high trails winding through the landscape.

As we head towards the coastal areas, the desert gives way to the vast area of greenhouses, growing food for most of Europe.

We eventually hit the coast on some fun singletrack trails before ending our tour in Almeria, capital of the region.

Our usual level of care and attention goes should go without saying. We want you to enjoy yourselves as much as possible.

Price includes hotels, breakfast and evening meal. Also transfers to and from Malaga airport and between hotels where required. Some picnic lunches will be provided when we are in more remote areas where a cafe stop is not possible.

It includes a supporting vehicle to resupply on the road alongside a minimum of 2 outriders actually helping and guiding around the routes. They will also help with any minor mechanicals if needed.

What’s not included: flights, energy products.
